Slow Art
Slow Art is the antidote for the disposability of contemporary culture.
We act from the inside out. We believe in the power of art to change lives. We see the
personal as political and the local as global. Art is a material process based on the
body and we act from and within the material traditions of art. We believe in the power
of painting and drawing to have contemporary relevance and the daily practice of art is
an acknowledgement of our need to embrace shared meanings.

Amanda Robins

Amanda Robins was recently selected as a finalist for the Tallinn Drawing Triennial
in Estonia and was highly commended by the judge. In 2009, she was also selected as
a finalist for the City of Hobart Art Prize.
From 2006 -2009 she was studio head of painting and drawing at the South Australian
School of Art at UNISA.
In 2008 she won the House of Phillips Fine Art Drawing Prize. In 2006 Robins
completed her PhD at the College of Fine Arts in Sydney where she was an Australian
Postgraduate Award Scholar.
During her studies, she undertook a residency at
the COFA Cite International des Arts Studio in Paris and was a finalist in several
major drawing awards, including the Dobell Prize for Drawing (2005, 2003).
